A big win to share. The Torrance Planning Commission voted 5-1 to Uphold the Hillside Overlay and deny the proposed plan at 310 Calle de Arboles.

​

Community action at the city’s July 21st public hearing made a tremendous, positive difference. Neighbors voiced their concerns before attentive city leaders. 20 residents spoke on behalf of Mrs. Terre and/or for upholding the Hollywood Riviera’s Hillside Overlay.

Mrs. Terre faced a proposed large two-story development next door. The same homeowner and builder had proposed similar projects for the lot seven times previously.

Although the Planning Department had recommended the project be approved, the Planning Commission unanimously denied the project with prejudice. Meaning, the builder cannot return to propose another project for that lot for two years.

Thank you to all who submitted written comments, posted yard signs, attended the meeting and spoke before the Commissioners.

Meeting with City Council members to voice our concerns regarding an amendment to the HOO (Hillside Overlay Ordinance) language and changes to the Planning Department process. Stay tuned!
